Girl Scouts and Best Friends Forever!

Troop 1499Girl Scouts builds friendships and bonds to last a lifetime, and Girl Scout Troop #1499 knows this better than just about anyone else! The Halifax county troop has been together for 13 years, and their high school graduation is one of many milestones the girls have reached together. From Girl Scout Daisies to Ambassadors, the troop has been through it all as they grew into young women with an incredible amount of courage, confidence, and character. Here are a few of the troop’s favorite experiences they’ve had together over the years!

1. Travel

Girl Scouts are adventurers at heart – and over the years, Troop #1499 has ventured to numerous destinations all around the globe! The girls have hung out in the ‘down under’ (as the natives like to say) in Australia and spent some time in nearby New Zealand! The troop’s explored the United States far and wide too, and some of their favorite places they’ve visited have been Savannah, Georgia, New York City, Walt Disney World in Orlando, Washington, D.C., and even Hawaii! Their many travels show that with a little hard work and planning, girls can do anything they set their minds to.

2. Helping Others

With the biggest hearts around, every Girl Scout has a few awesome service experiences to share! Troop #1499 had a blast together baking apple pies for the Union Mission and Food Pantry, and were happy to deliver the sweet treats to those in need. They also had the wonderful opportunity to lay the wreath at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier during their trip to Washington D.C., helping honor and remember those who we have lost. There’s nothing like being able to give back to the community and help our world get a little brighter each day.

3. Friendship

Of course the absolute best part of Girl Scouts is the friendships that come with it! One of the greatest ways to build strong bonds through Girl Scouts is by working together towards a common goal.  Over the years, the girls loved to set goals to earn Girl Scout badges. The troop also worked together to earn the Girl Scout Highest Awards. The whole troop earned their Girl Scout Bronze Award together, 8 of the girls earned their Girl Scout Silver Award, and 3 of the girls earned their Girl Scout Gold Award. In addition to reaching their goals, the girls have overcome challenges and tried new things, like camping (in both good and bad weather!), sleepovers at the Girl Scout Hut, and they were even featured on The View! All of these experience helped the girls to learn and grow together as they made memories for years to come.
