Get in the Spirit for 2014 Girl Scout Week

By Meghan Gargan, Digital Marketing & Project Director

Get ready for a week full of fun and festivities as Girl Scouts – NC Coastal Pines celebrates 2014 Girl Scout Week March 9 – 15, 2014!

In spirit week fashion, each weekday of Girl Scout Week will have a special theme or activity to celebrate different aspects of Girl Scouting. We encourage all girls and adults to participate and create a larger sense of sisterhood.

Join in on all the fun and don’t forget to share your photos and stories with us via our website, Facebook page, and Twitter. We look forward to seeing and hearing how all our girls and adults come together to celebrate this very special moment in Girl Scouting.

Monday, March 10 – Girl Scout Promise

WebToday, Girl Scouts across our 41 counties will recite the words that have united our movement from its inception – The Girl Scout Promise. Come together with your troop, parent, Girl Scout volunteer or even just a friend and discuss how you live the Promise everyday.

On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

Tuesday, March 11  – Share Your Favorite Girl Scout Memory

WebOne of the best parts of being a Girl Scout is creating memories that last a lifetime. Whether it’s a silly story about your troop, an achievement such as your Gold Award or how you impacted your local community through a service project – we want to hear about it!

Share your stories, photos, and more on our Facebook Page or mention us on Twitter (@GirlScoutsNCCP) on Tuesday, March 11th to be entered to win one of three council shop gift cards ($25 value). Submissions will be assigned a number and selected at random. Inspire your fellow Girl Scouts with all the wonderful things you’ve accomplished.

Wednesday, March 12– Happy Birthday, Girl Scouts!

WebThe first Girl Scout troop meeting was held on March 12, 1912 in Savannah, Georgia by our founder, Juliette Gordon Low. Today we celebrate 102 years strong! Below are some fun ideas to help you celebrate – and don’t forget to share your pictures with us using the Girl Scout Gallery!

3 Ways to Celebrate the Girl Scout Birthday:

1. Bake delicious Thin Mint cupcakes and decorate with your girl or troop.

2. Take the time to make Girl Scout friendship bracelets to trade with each other or give to a Girl Scout volunteer.

3. Complete a service project such as donating canned goods or picking up trash at your local park.

Thursday, March 13– Letters to Our Military Troops

WebGiving back and supporting our military troops has always been a part of the Girl Scout way. Last year’s letter writing campaign saw over 300 letters, stories, and artwork submitted. WOW!

This year we’re hoping to receive 400 hundred submissions to be delivered along with Girl Scout cookies as part of Operation Cookie Drop. All three Council Shop locations will be collecting letters/messages through April 15, 2014.

Letters can also be mailed to:

Whether you are showing of all your badges on your sash/vest or wearing your favorite Girl Scout t-shirt, let people know you are part of an amazing organization that supports and shapes girl leaders of today and tomorrow.

We can’t wait to see all the amazing things our girls and volunteers will do to celebrate Girl Scout Week!
