Girl Scouts are always hard at work living by the Girl Scout law and making the world a better place. Even during a global pandemic, girls across our council footprint are finding new ways to give back to their communities while following state and local social distancing guidelines. Check out some of our amazing girls and staff members below!

With the help of a neighbor Girl Scout Senior Sandra was able to brings smiles to the faces of local post office workers! To thank them for all their essential work, Sandra gifted them delicious Girl Scout Cookies with cute thank you notes!

Girl Scout Senior Tanya has been hard at work making the world a better place. She has made 57 masks for all age groups for families of the Durham County Cooperative Extension and over 200 cards for residents of the Carolina Meadows Continuing Care Retirement Community.

A few of the Girl Scout Cadettes from Troop #3288 volunteered at Urban Ministries and sorted food and packed boxes to be given out to anyone that came for assistance.

Carolina from Troop #4182, Mary Jane, Abby Jo and Riley from Troop #612, and Dakotah from Troop #4186 worked as a team at Mary’s Kitchen in Kinston to prepare, cook and serve those in need in the community.

Girl Scout Senior Hannah earned the Harvest Award as part of the “Sow What?” Journey and created change by educating people in her community about food wastage. To accomplish this goal, she created her own website.

Girl Scout Ambassador Chloe hunted down new and interesting volunteer opportunities with the help of Activate Good. She spent nearly 50 hours between June and August volunteering with Wake Up and Read, the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC, Adopt A Highway, Zacks Toy Chest, a local church, and hosting a Red Cross blood drive.

Girl Scout Junior Dorie created a socially distant Take Action project while finishing her “Get Moving” Journey. She and her trusty scooter distributed flyers in the neighborhood to tell the community about the energy savings that can be achieved by washing clothes in cold water.

As a pick-me-up during this challenging time, our council has been donating cases of Girl Scout cookies! We have donated to hospitals, schools, United Way, homeless shelters, and more.
