As we approach the end of summer, we are getting super excited to kick off the Girl Scout program year… and one of the best ways to do so is by participating in the Fall Product Program.

The 2018 Fall Program begins October 1st, and is a kickoff sale where girls sell nuts, candies, and magazine subscriptions to friends and family to help gather some startup proceeds for their Girl Scout troop. This year, we have some exciting new features that will make it easy and fun!

This year our theme is the Moose, and our Moose will be the “moose on the loose,” as she travels around the world. We will be having tons of fun with the moose on our council social media channels, where will be posting pictures of places that the moose has traveled, and hosting a contest to name the moose. Also, our Media Girlz team will be posting with the moose to share important information about the Fall Product Program. Girl Scout troops will be able to visit the Raleigh Service Center to meet the moose and take some fun pics, so stay tuned!

During the program, Girl Scouts will have fun creating their own avatar on the Me2 portal, their “Me2” or “mini me.” This digital – and cute – image that girls create in their likeness, serves as their salesperson online. Avatars will help each girl sell magazines, nuts and chocolate via email, Facebook, and Twitter; earn virtual rewards in her own virtual room; and interact with her fellow troop members’ avatars in an awesome online troop photo. And as she racks up the sales, each Girl Scout can earn real rewards like her own unique avatar patch. Pretty cool!!

This year, creating an avatar is even more fun because girls can pick their own background! Girl Scouts that create an avatar can be a Beach Girl, a Mountain Girl, a Big City Girl, or just hang out at the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace. Girls will also continue to have access to a wide-range of digital accessories to personalize their avatar to represent their unique personality.

In addition to building their avatars, girls can also use the Me2 portal as a helpful business tool! Selling online with the Me2 portal is so easy. With the help of their parents/guardians, Girl Scouts can send emails to family and friends around the country to earn their own Moose Explorer patch who can travel in the Soar Above airplane patch (earned when they sell 10 or more nuts/candy). Girls’ virtual stores can also be shared on Facebook and Twitter reaching special groups like her family, neighborhood or community, or teacher list.

Me2 is easy to use, loads of fun, and more convenient for families, volunteers, and customers. Here are just a few of those “awesome” features:

• No shipping charges! One option available to customers is paying for their order online with a credit card and selecting to have the order hand-delivered by their favorite Girl Scout.
• Less data entry for Troop Fall Program Coordinators! Parents have access to enter information for their girls in the Me2 portal.
• Easy to Use Training Resource! Parents and volunteers will have access to short training videos for our Fall Program, including how to use the M2 portal. These videos have been very popular during the Cookie Program providing must-know-information in mere minutes!
• One system for magazines and nuts/candy! No printing separate reports.
• Real time updates! See her reach her goal more easily as each girl’s progress and her sales level will be updated every day of the sale.

The Fall Program officially kicks off October 1st. Girls can begin building their own avatar and selling products as early as September 17th following the completion of sale training.  The face-to-face portion of the Fall Program will end October 21st to allow all orders to be delivered to troops for distribution; however, girls and troops can continue their online sales from October 22nd through November 11th. This will be a great time to remind customers that the holidays are right around the corner and magazines, nuts and chocolate, like our new English Butter Toffee make great gifts!
