So many opportunities with Girl Scouts!

By Nathalie H., GSNCCP Girl Board Member

090Hi! My name is Nathalie and I’m one of six Girl Scouts on the Girl Board for this year. I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences with everyone and talking about why it’s awesome to be a Girl Scout!

I joined Girl Scouts at six-years-old when my family was living in Germany. My dad is in the Army, so we have moved around quite a bit! However, one of the constants in my life has been Girl Scouts! I’m proud to say I’ve been a Girl Scout for 11 years now and I have participated in Germany, Colombia, Louisiana, and North Carolina. Girl Scouting is a big factor in my life as it has shown me that I have the power to do anything I want if I put my mind to it.

One example of this was attending a Counselor In Training (CIT) session at Camp Graham this summer. It was a fun experience where I met new friends and was able to become a role model to younger girls at camp this summer. There is nothing better than being with a bunch of girls at camp who want to go on adventures! It’s a great bonding experience and something I will remember for the rest of my life. I had a great time as a camp counselor and I know that Girl Scouts helped make this experience possible.

Another exciting opportunity Girl Scouts has given me is being on the Girl Board! I’m looking forward to meeting and speaking with Girl Scouts across our 41 counties and sharing our passion and excitement around Girl Scouting. One part of my role (and that all of the girls on the board take seriously) is that I represent all the young Girl Scouts in our council. I encourage all girls to reach out to me, and the other girls,  and tell us anything and everything – because we are your voice!

I hope everyone has a great start to the new Girl Scout year!

What opportunities has Girl Scouts given you? What skills and experiences have you developed as a Girl Scout?
