By Ami P., GSNCCP Girl Board Member
My name is Ami Patel and I am one of six Girl Scout Girl Board members who are working alongside council staff, volunteers, and adult board members at Girl Scouts – NC Coastal Pines for the 2013-2014 program year. I’m looking forward to working with the experienced and hardworking adults—both employees and volunteers – to help implement lasting change in our council.
As a group, the Girl Scout Girl Board comes together numerous times over the year to discuss what is happening in the 41 counties we represent and serve, and additionally to discuss how we can continuously improve what we do!
Throughout the year, adult and girl board members meet in their task force groups and tackle individual issues, as well as, keeping up with our council’s finances and more. This year, the other five girl board members and I are working to improve relations between our council’s board and the Girl Scouts themselves! We have discussed council-wide service projects and personally surveying girls in our counties as possible ways to help achieve this goal.
The Girl Board plans to continue meeting outside of our regular board meetings to discuss and implement more ideas. We want to hear what our fellow Girl Scouts have to say and what we can do to help.
All six of us are thrilled to serve such a strong council and will continue to do our best to help it grow. Our hope is to help unite all 41 counties and use new technology, such as social media, to inspire and connect with girls today, so that we will continue to see growth in the organization. Each Girl Board member will be contributing to this blog post over the year to keep others informed about what we are doing and why it is great to be a Girl Scout in North Carolina Coastal Pines!
We hope you will join us for some amazing adventures this year!
Tell us in the comments below what you would like to see the Girl Board accomplish this year! What projects can we help with? Don’t forget to follow the council on Facebook and Twitter to receive the latest Girl Scout Girl Board Member blog post!
