Discover the Fun with Girl Scouts

By Krista Park, Communications & Marketing Director

At Girl Scouts, girls have new experiences that give them that super-excited, jumping, giggling, butterflies-in-the-stomach feeling. Experiences that inspire them to look forward to what they’re going to do today, tomorrow, and even ten years from now, by helping them realize that they can be anything they want to be.

We can’t wait to begin the new year here at Girl Scouts – NC Coastal Pines because we know that Girl Scouts can do anything!  And to kick it all off, we have new Girl Scout program guides full of fun activities and events for girls.  Our Fall 2013 issues are hot off the presses and are being sent to all registered Girl Scouts and their families.

This year we have made some exciting changes to these publications. In addition to our GO! (Girls Only) Magazine, which details programs and events for our Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors, we have created an activity guide for our Girl Scout Daisies, Brownies and Juniors – Girl Scouts Can Do Anything!

In an effort to increase event accuracy, we are also publishing two issues of each publication this year: Fall 2013 (September – December) and Winter/Spring 2014 (January – May). The Winter/Spring issue will be mailed to girls and leaders in November.  By having two separate issues of the girl activity guides, we will have the unique opportunity to add additional council sponsored events as they come up throughout the year.

In addition, this new strategy will allow us to ensure events are accurate and up to date and allow for the publications to get into the hands of new girls and their families who join Girl Scouts in the winter and spring!  As spring events are finalized, it is our goal to send out “Save the Dates” on popular events to assist in yearlong planning in addition to posting these on our interactive event calendar at https://bit.ly/GSNCCPEvents

Troop leaders will also receive copies of these programs guides and the 2013-14 Lead On publication to support their planning efforts.  Membership Directors will be delivering these guides with other Girl Scout goodies at their area kick off meetings over the next few weeks.

Please be sure to take a look with your Girl Scout and see all that she can discover with her Troop or with other Girl Scout pals.  There are a number of cultural arts events for Girl Scouts and their families, and many more that girls can attend with a parent or caregiver!  All three guides can also be viewed on our website: click here
