A Moment of Reflection…

By Allison Winans, Program and Volunteer Services Executive

AnnualMtgAs I drove away from Girl Scouts – NC Coastal Pines 6th Annual Meeting on March 2nd at the Embassy Suites in Cary, NC, I had the biggest smile on my face.  Now, one could attribute that to my successful strut on the runway during our fashion show, but I instead I know it was because I had the honor of being a part of a wonderful adult recognitions ceremony.

The room came alive, as soon as the music played, and it truly warmed my heart as we all sang along to “My Girl.”  It is moments like this that I remember why Girl Scouting is so powerful.  Not only are we Shaping Her Future—creating girls of courage, confidence and character—but we are able to celebrate with one another on the amazing things our adult volunteers are doing.

Whether leading a troop, working for a day camp, acting as an administrative volunteer or all of the above—the work volunteers do and their contributions to the Girl Scout Movement do not go unnoticed!  I look forward to being a part of this great celebration next year, and we would love to hear how everyone is planning to continue the celebration of recognition at area and local events this spring!

A huge round of applause goes out to the recipients of this year’s Council awards.
