May is Military Appreciation Month, and we celebrated by delivering 50,232 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to men and women serving our country through Operation Cookie Drop. Throughout the 2021 Girl Scout Cookie Program, Girl Scouts collected donations for our annual council-wide service project that provides our military with the sweet taste of home. We have delivered well over 1 million boxes total since we started Operation Cookie Drop in 2005!

Each year, Girl Scouts across the council look forward to our Operation Cookie Drop events where they can personally deliver the cookies, meet servicemen and women, and learn more about what they do to protect our country. This year, Girl Scouts were unable to attend the drops because of COVID-19 safety precautions. However, Girl Scouts were able to write letters and make cards to be delivered with the cookies so they could still share a personal note of appreciation. At each cookie drop, military personnel were extremely grateful for the cookies and messages!

This year, we made cookie deliveries to eight different locations:

– Fort Bragg: 10,800 boxes

– Seymour Johnson Airforce Base: 10,800 boxes

– Fisher House: 720 boxes

– Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point: 10,200 boxes

– NCPacks4Patriots: 8,712 boxes

– USO Jacksonville: 3,000 boxes

– USO RDU: 4,200 boxes

-BONUS: Treats for Teachers: 1,800 boxes

Each location will make sure that the delicious Girl Scout cookies are distributed to servicemen and women who are deployed our serving our country in the United States. This year, we recognized the struggles of many of our teachers faced with changes due to the pandemic, and added Treats for Teachers to our donations as a bonus.

Girls that collected donations to give 15 boxes earned our awesome Operation Cookie Drop patch. We are so proud of our Girl Scouts for going above and beyond to show their appreciation and support for our military!
