Girl Scouts – NC Coastal Pines is grateful for Duke Energy’s support of two TechnoQuest events held in Raleigh and Greenville on college campuses. Each year, 300 middle and high school girls are given the opportunity to explore careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) with hands-on mentoring sessions in lab settings ranging from coding, robotics, engineering, chemistry, forensics, genetics, biology, etc. In addition, the events provide the important experience of being on a college campus for girls who might not have otherwise envisioned themselves as college bound.
STEM is one of the four “program pillars” of Girl Scouting, and we are grateful for Duke Energy’s support in this arena. Many of our Girl Scout Gold Award recipients (highest honor in Girl Scouting) have participated in our environmental and STEM programming and have focused their sustainable projects in these areas.
We appreciate the culture of philanthropy that Duke Energy instills in its leaders and employees and for what it gives back to its community. By fostering an interest in fields for young women, Duke Energy continues the help the community grow and produce talent to bring new thinking and innovation to our lives.
