How do we keep up with girls today? We ask girls what they want to do – and they tell us! Girl Scouts is where girls decide what adventure to go on next! Girls choose anything and everything in Girl Scouts from their next meeting topic, community service project, how to spend their cookie proceeds, where to camp, and even what badges they want to earn.
Because Girl Scouts is led by and for girls, that’s why girls will choose which badges should be added to the National Program Portfolio. That’s right! Girls’ Choice badges are back, and we’re SO excited! As part of the girl-led badge-creation process, we will offer new badges for Brownies through Ambassadors. This year, girls vote for one of three awesome badge categories (Outdoor, STEM, or Financial Literacy) and then they vote on which badge-earning skill they want to learn for that category.
Here’s a quick run down of the the badge categories and category topics girls can vote for through November 15th!
The first category is OUTDOORS where girls will explore:
- Art in the Outdoors
- Camping Skills
- Outdoor Cooking
The second category is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) where girls will explore:
- Engineering
- Coding/E-textile
- Life/Forensic Science
And the final category is FINANCIAL LITERACY where girls will explore:
- Financing Your Fun Stuff
- Watching Your Dollars Grow
- Social Entrepreneurship
The new Girls’ Choice badges will be full of big learning, fun and adventure – they’re so Girl Scouts! Last year, girls cast over 80,000 votes to select the winning badges and, with your help in spreading the word, we hope to have even more girls share their voices this year. Voting is open October 31 through November 15. Learn more now!
Girls will have the say. Will Outdoors, STEM, or Financial Literacy win? The choice is hers. Voting only takes a minute, so don’t let your Girl Scout miss her chance to choose the next national badge. Encourage every Girl Scout you know to share her voice and vote today.
