At Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines, the outdoors isn’t just a place to explore—it’s where Girl Scouts build confidence, develop leadership skills, and make memories that last a lifetime. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, more Girl Scouts will have the chance to experience the magic of camp with over $500,000 in funding dedicated to enhancing our camp properties!
These upgrades will provide Girl Scouts with new and improved spaces to learn, play, and grow. From refreshed cabins to expanded program areas, these improvements will ensure that every Girl Scout—whether she’s discovering a love for the outdoors, learning survival skills, or developing an interest in STEM—has the opportunity to thrive.
Bringing More to Camp Mary Atkinson
One of the most exciting additions is an outdoor amphitheater at Camp Mary Atkinson, made possible by a $100,000 grant from the A.J. Fletcher Foundation. This new space will serve as a gathering spot for performances, educational programs, and community-building experiences—allowing Girl Scouts to embrace creativity in the great outdoors.
“As a former Girl Scout, I know firsthand the transformative power of this organization,” said Sloan Edemann, Fletcher Fellow at A.J. Fletcher Foundation. “The Girl Scouts build courage, confidence, and character, equipping them with the skills to lead and thrive. We’re proud to support Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines’ commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders—whether they’re exploring STEM, honing life skills, or finding their voice in the great outdoors at Camp Mary Atkinson.”

Expanding Opportunities Across Camps
These exciting improvements don’t stop at Camp Mary Atkinson! Thanks to the generous support of foundations, businesses, and individuals, Girl Scouts will soon see updates at Camp Hardee, Camp Mu-Sha-Ni, and Camp Graham, including:
- New cabins for overnight adventures
- A craft hut for hands-on creativity
- Outdoor recreation areas for active play
- Updated program spaces to expand learning opportunities
Construction for these projects will take place over the next several years, allowing for careful planning and lasting improvements that will benefit campers and their families for years to come. These projects are made possible through the support of Melanie Dubis, Fidelity Bank, First Citizens Bank and the Ella Ann L. and Frank B. Holding Foundation, Kristen Hess of HH Architecture & Other Engineering Partners, Robert P. Holding Foundation, Kathy Karlic and Peter Gross, Mt. Olive Pickle Company, Frances Abbot Burton Powers Endowment Fund, Barbara Sirvis, the estate of Margaret Pickard and Genrik S. Sirvis, Southern Bank, and Suzanne Stroud. Their generosity helps ensure that Girl Scouts can continue to grow in their courage, confidence and character.
Be Part of the Future of Girl Scout Camps
These investments are just the beginning! As we continue to enhance our camp properties, there are even more opportunities to support Girl Scouts—from updating cabins to renovating the infirmary at Camp Mary Atkinson and creating new program spaces.

Every trail blazed, every skill mastered, and every challenge conquered at camp helps shape the next generation of strong, confident leaders. With the support of our community, Girl Scouts will continue to explore, lead, and dream big in the outdoors for years to come.
