The 2021 Girl Scout Cookie Program is finally here! This year, Girl Scouts are thinking outside the (cookie) box with innovative sales methods to make sure that safety is top of mind and that they are practicing social distancing with their troop members and customers. Through the Girl Scout Cookie Program, Girl Scouts learn 5 key skills: goal setting, decision making, people skills, business ethics, and money management. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led business in the world for a reason, and each year our Girl Scouts continue to impress with creative new ways to reach their goals.

Girls should always follow safety practices like wearing a mask and social distancing. See below for ways that Girl Scouts can become cookie innovators this year with their sales!

1. Make Your Own Cookie Door Hangers

Walkabout Week is in full swing! Girls who participate in neighborhood door-to-door sales from January 16-29 will receive a special Walkabout Week patch. A great tip for this year is to create a door hanger with information on how to order cookies using Smart Cookies to leave on your neighbors’ doors. You can print one to color in or create your own!

2. Drive-Thru Cookie Booths

Hold drive-thru cookie booths with your Girl Scout troop! Girl Scouts can organize stations for the drive-thru, where girls manage order fulfillment and adults take orders and give customers their cookies. Check out our Cookie Booth Reference Guide for step-by-step instructions!

3. Grubhub Orders in Select Areas

This year, we are excited to be participating in a pilot program with the food ordering and delivery platform Grubhub. In Durham, Greenville, Fayetteville, Raleigh, and Wilmington, customers can order Girl Scout cookies for pickup or delivery on Grubhub.com or the Grubhub app. A hands-on experience in managing e-commerce, Girl Scouts will track and fulfill orders, manage inventory, and more using Grubhub’s back-end technology.

3. Social Media Sales

Put your e-commerce skills to work by selling cookies on social media with parental permission! Create a video where you sing a song about Girl Scout cookies or create your own graphic to post with your Smart Cookies link!

4. Online Sales

Beginning February 1, customers can enter their zip code into the Girl Scout Cookie Finder to find a local troop to purchase from through the Digital Cookie platform for direct shipment or donation to local organizations.
