I Can’t Wait…To Support Our Girl Scouts!

September 26, 2013

By Mary Jo Van H., Family Partnership Coordinator volunteer, Wake 13

GSNCCP-ICantWaitTo-MagentaAs a 20-year veteran Girl Scout, adult volunteer, Family Partnership coordinator and Family Partnership donor, I can’t wait to experience all the fun and exciting things that lie ahead this year for our Girl Scouts and their families!

I can’t wait to tell everyone why they should donate.

I can’t wait to show the bang they get for their buck.

I can’t wait for everyone to know that 86% of every dollar donated goes to program services.

Donations to Girl Scouts – NC Coastal Pines’ Family Partnership Campaign are important because EVERY girl deserves the opportunity to participate in Girl Scouts.  It assures that being a Girl Scout is affordable.  Imagine having to pay $180 per year – the cost to support one girl for one year.

Many years my family would have struggled and in all likelihood, my oldest would not have been able to grow from a Girl Scout Daisy to a Girl Scout Senior, earn her Girl Scout Silver and Gold Awards, or be serving as the Girl Scout leader that she is today without the support of this campaign.  Even some of the fees associated with required trainings for certain activities or volunteer roles, despite being low, would have been a financial strain for our family.

GSNCCP_FPC_Magnet-4C croppedWith Family Partnership, I was able to become the Girl Scout leader I wanted to be and participate in all the wonderful experiences that Girl Scouting provided my daughter and my troop (and me)!

I can’t wait for everyone to know that by giving to Family Partnership, they ensure our leaders supported; they ensure our camps affordable for all girls; they ensure our events accessible to our Girl Scouts and their families; they ensure our volunteers are well trained; and most importantly, they make certain our Girl Scouts have every opportunity to grow into Tomorrow’s Leaders.

There are many stories of why adults participate in this campaign.  Hear from supporters in this video and you’ll understand why you should give to Family Partnership. You’ll be the one saying “I can’t wait to contribute to Family Partnership.”

And if you can’t wait another minute, donate now!

I Can’t Wait to be a Girl Scout

August 27, 2013

By Keli Diewald, Membership Executive – Region 4

trefoil_400As adults we can think of times that each of us lay awake at night with anticipation and excitement of what was to come.  That is how our young girls feel about Girl Scouts. They can’t wait to make new friends, have diverse experiences and be a part of our Girl Scout Sisterhood.  With this in mind, I can’t wait to get the new year started at Girl Scouts – NC Coastal Pines and here’s why:

I Can’t Wait To….

  • Witness the amazement in a Girl Scout Daisy’s eye as she learns the Girl Scout Law and recites it to her family (while making them learn it, too).
  • Hear that our shyest Girl Scout Daisies have become shining stars as Girl Scout Cadettes who serve as Program Aides in our council Day Camps.
  • Learn from our Girl Scout Seniors as they represent the girl voice on the council’s board of directors, helping the Girl Scout Movement to stay relevant among girls today.
  • Read a Girl Scout Ambassador’s college admissions essay as she talks about earning the Girl Scout Gold Award and her passion for community advocacy.
  • See the pride in an alumnae Girl Scout’s eye as she tackles her first “real-world” job and knows that she is using the leadership skills she learned in Girl Scouts.
  • Hear about council volunteers’ eye opening experiences they are ensuring our girls have-whether it’s taking a girl on her first overnight event, traveling to Europe, or giving back to the community.
  • See a young girl look at her mom, grandmother, aunt, or cousin who is leading her troop, with admiration and respect.
  • Watch a group of girls, who have only just met, join together as Girl Scouts and begin their journey as lifelong friends!

What can’t you wait to do?

Share your stories with us on our Facebook page and let everyone know what you just can’t wait to do. Spread the word; get others involved – girls and adults!  Help keep the Girl Scout Movement alive and ensure that all girls are able to experience the wonder and power of this incredible leadership program.
